The rubber backing on the carpet in my bow rider is deteriorating and flaking off. The carpet is in good condition. Can the rubber backing be restored with a rubber overlay or a rubber restoration product. Or, am I just concerned about nothing and wait until the carpet falls apart?

Re: Carpet Backing

Once the backing is gone it's not long before the carpet starts to come apart. It's not that big of job and the price is not that high.

Re: Carpet Backing

I just "refinished" the backing on my boat carpet. I bought 2 cans of Plastic-Grip and a throwaway trim roller from HomeDepot and in 30 minutes the backing is like new.

Re: Carpet Backing

Thanks, I'll look into it. The carpet is in good shape. A neighbor suggested that I use vasoline on the snaps to prevent them from rusting together. Petroleum jelly did a job on the rubber. And its dry and flaking.
