I am redoing the carpet in my 89 Skeeter bass boat.Had no real problem with deck areas, and they look pretty good. That being said the compartment lids(7) are a whole different story!I tried the 1st one with a scrap piece of carpet and getting the fit on the top flat part is easy, the hard part is wrapping all the corners.I followed instructions that i found online the best i could but can't get the corners to come together to my satisfaction.I don't know how others have faired with this but i find it terribly frustrating and had to walk away from it yesterday because i was getting extremely irritated.I may be over thinking it all but if anyone has a way of doing these, any tips or process would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!PS All the lids have the hard removable binder on the bottom of the lid that i will put back on after.
Thanks for any help John........

Re: Carpet insallation question

With the hatch lids removed I notched the carpet so one end could rap around the outside corner of the lid. I then could fold the next end down over that piece of carpet hiding the overlap.

On the inside corners, I used a scrap strip of carpet. I glued it in before I folded and glued the other carpet over it. Use lots of clamps to help hold the carpet down while glue dries.

I also taped up every thing with Blue painter?s tape that I didn?t want to get glue on. Just remove the tape as you go when the glue is still wet, it comes off easier. And use as little glue as possible so it won?t seep through the carpet.
