Hey all,
I just picked up a new project boat last weekend (87 Bomber) and have big plans for it. The first on the list is tearing out the old carpet, so far the carpet in the bow has come up pretty easily but it seems that its getting more difficult towards the middle and stern. Anyone have any tips or tricks on removing the carpet? Its not the rubber backed carpet so when you try to pull it up it tears off in little sections. I thought about hitting it with my pressure washer this weekend and try to blast it off. It has a sealed deck so I wouldnt thing pressure washing it would be a problem?

TUG tug tug........ wide blade paint scraper.

If you are going to replace the carpet you want to sand off most of the old glue too.

The secret is just ......... muscle.

i have to agree with BobVT

power tools will get caught up in the nap, chemicals won't do much until you get down to the glue. even then, a grinder or sander will work better.

one of those long handled scrapers you use on a wooden floor might help...sharpen the edge if you can.

pressure washer could find any weak spots in the fiberglass and rip it open. i'd skip that plan, lots of water in the boat too.
