I have a 1997 22' Powerquest w/ cabin that I want to replace the carpet in. The current carpet is pretty much down to the mat and all worn down, so its ready for an upgrade. I'm not sure of the exact measurements since the boat is in storage at a buddies house, but I would guess the cockpit area is about 6 x 6, then the smaller cabin area is maybe 2 x 3.

The carpet now is a glue down carpet. I'd like to upgrade to the snap in kind. I've found a few places that will make custom snap in's, you just send in the template.

I'm not sure if I want to take the time to rip out that old carpet, I think it would be a real pain in the butt getting that old adhesive out. If I do decide to do this, what chemical works best on getting the old glue out? I really dont want to spend hours and hours sanding the crap out of it. I'll attach a link of the cockpit area so you can see an idea.

Please give me some recommendations if possible.

Lots of elbow grease. Be careful when using flammable solvents.

Re: Carpet Replacement

I used to lay carpet and we used white coleman fuel to remove old glue. Tolulene is another one but the vapors will send you for a loop:eek:
