I've got a Chrome stick for casting but bought it without much research. Turns out you really can't pause well, or rewind/fast forward at all. Plus I have a few Star Trek movies I just have to watch every now and again when I'm on the road but would rather watch on the TV than the tablet.

So, have done a bit of googling today and it looks like maybe the Lenovo is the one? Anybody have any insights to this or a better one.

I basically want to watch whatever I want, streaming or not and have it completely mirror the tablets actions.

my tablet runs Android 4.4.xxxx something or another.

well, just went to look at shopping options and can't find it. Was supposed to be out last august but cannot seem to locate online, even on Lenovo's website.

So.... what one do I want?

Look at the Roku. A little bigger than a Chrome cast, but we've done very well using them for casting. I'm a big fan of the Apple TV, and I believe it will cast from an Android. You can also load movies into iTunes and run online too.

don't want to have to cloud things, just local media. I'll check the Roku

ok reading up on the roku and it boasts the amount of apps it has avail, which im' not really worried about - one or two very small mentions about casting locally saved content. What is your experience there?

and which roku to get? Seems like there are many. Not worried about the remote since I'm not going to be using it for streaming.

I'll have to look at which one we use in specific, but they're older. But we exclusively cast content from a computer to a TV / monitor (typically about 40" - 90") in a convention hall environment. Typically in hotel rooms I've used the Apple TV.

We also have one running our lobby ... runs 24/7 looping content from an old computer.
