I have a 1985 70 HP Johnson Model #J70TLCOS . Runs great at wot for about 200 yds then bogs down, idle it back to 1500 rpms and then come up to 4000 rpms and will run all day then if u go to wot the same thing happens.I pulled the carbs and was checking the float levels #1 was okay and when i checked #2 here is what I saw also the # 3 carb was okay. I rebuilt the carbs replaced the gaskets and havent been to the lake to test but I was wondering if anyone might know what caused the carb to eat the gasket. The only thing the I can figure is old age. Thanks for any help

Take a straight edge and make sure the center tube of the floatbowl that mates to the gasket does not extend above the height of the floatbowl.
Make sure the high speed jets are clean while you have it apart.
