cavitation plate add ons

what exactly do those plastic extansions do that you bolt on?Is this to keep the bow down at slower speeds?Newbie question.

these can serve two purposes: the first being to stabelize the transom more while driving, and the second purpose is that it can be bend down to a 90 degree angle to cause more drag, and more drag equalls slower speeds on the boat<br /><br />hope this helps

Perhaps it's horsepower related.
