Anyone watch CBS news tonight?
They did a segment on alligators in Florida and were at the Dead River in Tavares. That is where I live.

Months ago a kid was killed after swimming in the Dead River. He was throwing rocks at alligators all day and then went in the water. His friend was by the shore when a alligator got him. Our officers were the first on scene and got the boy from the gator and onto a pontoon boat they commandered (sp) The boy was severed in half. It was pretty rough for the officers there. To bad it happened.

Yes I saw that segment. It is getting to dangeous to swim most places down there. I've seen where they have grabed kids and dogs in Florida along drainage ditches.
Not to many years ago they were almost extinct. Now there are over a million of them in the state of Florida. They should open the harvest of them gators greater then it is now. Keep tabs on it and then close the season.

remember folks, you heard it here, the environmental wackos demand that 'gators are natural to your area and are to be allowed to coexist with you!

Same deal in Wisconsin who have the city dwelling wackos demanding that rural folks accept the timber wolf to live amongst us in peace!

And the mountain lion in 'fornia--natural beauty 'till one eats your kid!!

BTW, I tend to kill any critter that threatens me and mine..even my plants..ahh,..or plants :D

uhhh.. The Gators were here first... Don't mess with them or be near a females nest, they'll leave you alone...

There is a hunting season for gators... I do not know the particulars, but i do know that obtaining the permit to hunt them is a bit difficult and only so many permits are available...

Natural selection at work... Nobody to blame but the kids parents...

Natural selection is one thing but this is Darwin rearing his ugly but sensable head. Do you throw stones at a dog and then go in his pen? His parent(s)will be the first to cry into the cameras that he was a good boy that never did no wrong.
