CD-18 Johnson Sea Horse 5.5 oil ratio?

Just need some quick help here. I have a 61 or so CD-18 5.5 Sea Horse Johnson outboard. What mixture should I be using for fuel? Also is this a reliable kicker motor? It seems to start easy, have not put it in the water yet. Thanks for the help.

I would recommend mixing your fuel 50:1,I have a 1967 5hp that I use as a kicker motor on my 18.5 tyee lund aluminum boat and it has prooved to be extremely reliable, as long as you preform regular preventative maintinence just like you would for any outboard.

Hang around long enough and ask enough people and you will get whatever answer you want to hear. Your motor was designed to run on 24:1 mix. 50:1 motors didn't come out till 1964.

Lyncraft, how much does your boat weigh? How fast does it move you? Can you troll ok with it. My boat is a 18'4" center console weighing approx 1500lbs with motor empty. Thanks for your time.

my boat wieghs about 1550 and with just the kicker I can get on average about 8mph WOT. I usualy troll salmon and lake trout on lake champlain anywheres from 2 to 3mph so there is no problems there!

Good to hear, Champlain huh. You guys have the Lockness Monsters American cousin there I hear. Thanks for the good info, 7mph is my max trolling speed.
