Can anyone tell me the difference in a the following Evinrude/Johnson CD/4 powerpacks? I bought a Johnson 140 Looper for spair parts (can't tell the year, tag is dammaged but is supposed to be an '85-86 and the dealer said they were interchangable(?). Most of the parts are the same p/n as my 85 120 looper except the powerpack. Below is listed the particulars. I'm just wondering if they are interchangable?

From the 120: Markings =:
CD 4/8-61L
PN 852645
17 DW-0A

From the 140: Markings =:
BRP
CD4/8-67L
583101
13 D1B-BA

Thanks,
TN Fisher

Re: CD 4 power pack questions

your 120 powerpack is the same as the following numbers:
OMC POWER PACK 4 OR 8 CYLINDER LIMITER, LOOPER, 6700 RPM LIMIT

OE # : 396224, 582530, 582645, 583072, 583073, 583235

so, no, they are not interchangable as far as parts # goes. try it and find out

1985 140hp uses the following:
OE # : 396224, 582530, 582645, 583072, 583073, 583235

1986/1987 uses the following:
OMC POWER PACK 4 OR 8 CYLINDER REV LIMITER, 6700 RPM LIMIT

OE # : 581404, 582262, 583037, 583041, 583101, 583102, 583103, 583336
