What would cause a CD player to spit the cd back out at ya when you put it in?
Does it need cleaning?
This is an auto one.

Re: CD player ?

A) Does it give you an error message on the readout before spitting it out?

If so it could be a dirt laser or bad CD.

B) Does it do it with every CD?

If so then the "retainer" (for want of a better term) sensor that engages the drive could be bad, worn out or have a dirt build up keeping it from doing it's thing.

The ejext switch could be stuck or bad.

You could take it out , open it up and visually inspect it for breakage or dirt.
IF there's an obvious broken part at least you have the removal step taken care of.

Here is a basically harmless repair attempt....

Go to staples or wally world and get a can of compressed air and spray it through the cd slot..... use the thin tube and get in there..... gets any dust off the workings without harm.

Use the remaining can on your home pc and laptop vents.

I think the CD Player does not like your choice of music. Might want to try some George Strait or Allen Jackson.

I got the "buy me a mercury and move it on down the road" music.
Also some Shania, oh yea.
Don't matter, put it in and it puts it right back at ya.
May need a good cleaning.

Re: CD player ?

Here is another take on the situation.............

This is an opportunity to trade in that vehicle...... ;)

The CD rejection could be the tip of the iceberg...........

Horrible things could follow....... Low washer fluid..... missing valve caps..... glove box full....... Car probably does not even smell new :(

Every day your car is depreciating ....... if you listen you can just about hear it! :p

What you really want is a Multi CD Player with Navigation and Bluetooth capability....

Now practice these words wearing a big smile..... "Hey everyone look what I got today!" :D

if you can get to the lenz, get a q tip (swab) along with some windex gently wet the swab dry it a little then clean the lenz, sometimes nothing get them to work i have done this hundred of times with cd players,if that fails the lenz might need calibration, or there are particles that is build up under the lenz that you cannot remove, what i have notice in past years people that smoke heavily will most likely to destroy there cd player in there smoking surrounding. just my 1 cent.

I'm not sure about the windex, I use Everclear. It's around 99% alcohol and evaporates faster and leaves no residue.

Re: CD player ?

You should be able to find a lens cleaner at Radio Shack or Wally World. You can use a can of air as mentioned but it doesn't mean that it will fix the problem. I say use a lens cleaner which is basically a cd with fibers on it to clean the lens. The lens cleaner I have does have audio on it with directions, and after a moment it tells you to skip to track 8 to begin the cleaning process, not like I need instructions on how to use a cleaner lol. If that doesn't work and the cd player happens to be an older one it might be time to replace or even if it's a newer cd player it may be a lemon.

You are putting the CD in right side up? I was riding in the car with my mom just recently, she was trying to put a CD in and it kept spitting it back out. She said "what the heck is going on now" I said "mom you're putting the CD in upside down" :D.

I stand on my thought.... time to trade! :D

Watch next thing to go will be a knob, the glove box latch or a dome light switch...... the CD is just a warning!!!!

Re: CD player ?

This is a factory unit and when you put a cd in it says disk on the screen and then in a second or 2, it ejects it back out.
Tried different cds with same results.
It's a 1995 model and I am in process of restoring and I want to keep it original if I can.

Re: CD player ?

Try something.....pull ALL power from the cd/radio player, restore power and try again using a factory pressed cd....

Re: CD player ?

What are we trying to keep original? Brand type year???? I have an extra deck that came out of a 93-94 Ford it was the high end one single cd that required the ford amp...... it could be free for the asking to anyone who could put it to use.
