i have a trihull with a 1974 70hp johnson<br />i install a cd player wired it straight to the battery. when it is not being used the clock stays on i have a large deep cylce starting/trolling battery.with the clock always being on will it draw enough out of the battery to kill it

Eventually - but it will take a long time as the stand-by current is in the mA range. You shouldn't have a problem during the season but when you put her up for the winter pull you battery out. <br /><br />Make sure the line directly connected to the battery is fused.

If your like me and moor your boat. I would hook up an "accessory" switch. With all the moisture around, a short will happen eventually with the circuitry.<br /><br />This will drain your battery quickly, and leave you with no juice to power your bilge pump. I have trouble sleeping at night, as it is, with my boat out there in the water everyday. Having that switch kills all power except to the bilge pump, letting me sleep at night.<br /><br />Good luck!

Check to see if you can kill the clock. On mine, and some others I have had, you can turn the clock off. Check you manual.
