I've heard of it before but never found any real decent information about it or the kits to do it.

Anyone here know of a kit to convert the old coils points and condensers to like a CDI type setup or the likes?

Thanks in advance.

Re: CDI Ignition conversion

I can't help, but I must ask the question, WHY? Coils, points, and condenser for my '57 35 hp is about $55.00. Coils, powerpak, stator, and trigger for my '77 35 hp is about $390.00.

I was hoping to see this conversion in the other direction. The CDI powerpack on my 1970 60HP Evinrude is the most unreliable part of the system at about 250 bucks a pop, not to mention being a bobber when it goes out.

My reaction also. Everybody else is trying to figure out how to convert their CD to battery and points.
