CDI or Sierra?

I need a pulse pack for my 1968 Johnson 100 HP. Currently it has a Wabash(Sierra subsidy I think) and it quit working correctly.

Now I have to decide whether to go with Sierra or CDI. I have the following pros and cons:

Sierra 18-5748
Pros - Harness is compatible with current Wabash(easy install), "lifetime" warranty (money back since they don't make them anymore)
Cons - Quit officially making them 2 years ago, the one I have exactly like the Sierra one broke after 6 years

CDI 113-8362
Pros - Comes with new coil
Cons - Two year warranty (only if wires intact), needs some rewiring

Both cost about the same.. I'm thinking CDI but will they give me warranty if I install it myself? Their website RMA request has a space for Dealer name instead of name and etc..

Thanks

Re: CDI or Sierra?

I'd like to order the new pack this weekend, does anybody have a preference and why?

Thanks

Re: CDI or Sierra?

one you get your money back, the other you have to spend more money to have installed so I would go with the Sierra part myself, at least you get your money back if it does break and it will plug right in.
