I have a 21ft open bow. It's got two captains chairs and the bench seat with the sun pad over the engine.<br />I'm thinking of removing the sunpad and replacing it with a dog house over the motor and seats on either side. I think I would also have room to put a short bench seat right in front of the engine cover.<br />My thinking is that this seating arrangement would make better use of some of the empty space on either side of the engine. We hardly ever use the sun pad and wouldn't miss it. It would open up the cockpit a little making more room for my two small kids. Some of the interior is ready for reupolstery so it seems like the time might be right.<br /><br />My wife is not too thrilled about the idea but it seems like a worthwhile winter project for me(I enjoy working on the boat). <br /><br />What are the downsides to this project? Is there a minimum amount of room required around the engine/airflow considerations? Are there seating disadvantages?What am I overlooking?<br /><br />Thanks
