Its a Nokia phone available at Walmart that you buy prepaid minutes on. You have to buy so many minutes so often so it will stay "registered". That is about the only drawback that I seen with the program. You can buy tremendous amounts of minutes pretty cheap but you stillhave to keep a registration going by buying so many more so often.

Ladyfish- Look on Ebay for minute cards, you will be amazed at how much cheaper you can get them than at Wallyworld.

Now that she has decided she likes it, she can buy a year plan with double minutes, and they wount bug you only once a year.

I am using virgin wireless which is similar. Need to top phone off every 3 months with 20 dollars which you can use for your phone calls. No roaming and no long distance. I have had mine since november and my average monthly charge is around 15 bucks. It works for me cause I dont use the phone much. To find a similar package with roaming is about 40 bucks a month.

that's pretty cool, glad to see they quit ripp'n people off on the pre-paid.

I used to sell SWB, now cigular about 5-6 years ago, at that time, the cheapest pre-paid you could do was $25 card to get you $35 minutes, and they expired in 30 days. After 30 days you would have to pay another $15 activation fee and probably get a new number. We REALLY tried to keep people away from those. The only people that really bought them were people with credit so horrible nobody would even co-sign with them, or people only in the country for for a few weeks.

Bassy
I also have a tracfone and have been using it since april and no problems yet. It gets great reception and you can't complain about the plan or the incredible reception. Roming is only double minutes. Some plans murder you on roming but not tracfone. I'm glad you like it and I always get my minutes at Wally-World usually the best prices.

How do you tell how many minutes you have left?

It says on the phone. I guess you could call it the main page or home page where it is shown.

DJ, that's right. When the phone is starting up, it displays time in the "tank". Tracfone really is a good way to go for anyone who doesn't need to use a cell phone very much. No billing to deal with, and that'a a huge plus!

I happen to have a Nokia 252 with accessories and a generous amount of time in the tank that I no longer use. Anyone interested can email me.

-dd-

The nokia 252 was a really good analog phone, not the great battery life you get out of a digital though.
