Hey, the other day i was out fishing, and i threw my phone on the dash. It landed in front of my tach, which went crazy. I moved the phone and it returned to normal, but being stupid as i am i had to mess with it and watch it do it a couple times. Well, now it seems to have a mind of its own, working correctly sometimes, other times it throws an extra 1000 rpms or so on. I had no clue a phone would freek it out! I'm guessing its the battery that really causes this. Aint sure just what to do about it, guess i'll pull it out and take a look...

Re: Cell phone screwed up my tach

Ain't the battery that causes it. The cell phone send signals back to the repeater station on a regular basis. This signal is high frequency and of substantial power. The tach see's this as a alt. signal and responds. Its possible it over-loaded some internal circuitry.
In a last attempt of redemption, lick your finger and rub it across the tach lens. If this don't cure it........warranty!!! (the damage if any won't be externally visible)
