I heard something today about cell phone numbers being released to public soliciters, something about some new fcc regulations I heard.
My wife gave me a phone number to register my personal number to block it, she said everyone will have to do this to keep numbers from being released.

I do know many people have eliminated their home "wired" phone and now only use the cell phone.

I also can attest that the solicitation calls have gone up 10 fold at my house and I am on the do not call register.

Does the do not call registry apply to politicial calls? They have hammered my grand parents before this recent election, and I have them on the list.

Political calls must be exempt, I got multiple calls each day.

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion based on observation, not fact

That said, I sometimes suspect the the Do Not Call list serves as a source of viable, active phone numbers for renegade telemarketers. If you're on the list, they know you're out there.

Evidence: When it came available, I put my land line on the do not call list. I don't get calls every day, but average about 40 junk calls a month. My cell is not on the list and gets a telemarketer about 3 or 4 times a year.

Most of the land line calls come from a pool of 10 to 12 numbers that call me repeatedly. I never answer and they never leave a message.

This maybe a tale but i was told when those automated calls come in if you hit the # three times and hang up it causes a malfunction on their end. I never know if it works cause i get so many..

My crazy, but lovable, aunt used to mass mail that email twice a year until I "Replied To All" with that Snopes link.

I do know that more and more often places you do business with are asking for your CELL numbers.. Once they get it who knows who they will share it with and I just tell them I dont have a cell phone.

This is a completely bogus rumor. It has been on here twice and deleted because of the snopes evaluation as fraud.
