Does anyone have any suggestions/pics on how to connect a regular set of OMC controls to an aluminum center console and make it look clean?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "regular" set. A binnacle control works well in that application.

I would guess his "regular" set of omc controls are the side mount style..

you could turn them around and make the control"left handed" and mount on the right side of your console....thus allowing you to shift and keep your left hand on the wheel.

I guess a lot depends on the shape of your center console

Side mount was the term I was looking for. If I keep the side mount and turn it around, I know I can "clock" my shift lever, but my keyswitch and throttle lever will still be mislocated, correct?

Re: Center console rigging

check out the thread on page four or five of this forum entitled center console-controls advice. I have a similar problem and a pic was posted in response to my question that shows what you could do!

I had the same problem in my 16' x 5' fishing Lowe. Came up with a full dash board on hinges mounted at 45 degrees along the left rear side of the boat. allowed pulley steering. Dual engine controls. Full guages & fish finder. I used a 5' x 12" x 1" board for the dash. It runs fro m my seated knee cat to the top of the O B splash lip. Had LONG cables & controls.
Shifter & throttle cables have 1 circle to use up extra length. I sit almost centerline. LOVE the complete open area in front of the most rearward seat. Think about it. I was able to just shorten 1 wire at a time to hook up all the electrics.

the side mounted controls are reversable!!! you take some parts off the control and remount them on the other side...key stays in the same orientation!!! facing the driver!!

Or just mount them to the left side of the console.

For me, it didn't work very well, as I kept hitting them when I would walk around the console.

Ended up buying new top mounted controls ($135 delivered), and dash mounted ignition switch and kill switch ($35).

For important parts or if I need it in a hurry, or parts that have to fit, iboats.com.

Otherwise, I find what I am looking for, then google the part number and try to find one on clearance or ebay.
Sometimes, no bargains to be found, other times, you find someone clearing out old stock.
google : Single-Lever Control Top Mount (490071)

check aomic.org for vintage parts/controls too. ebay also has a pretty good selection of old odds and ends.

thanks Roscoe and kfa4303. Of course iboats.com, right! in my neck of the woods (Canada) when ever you need a part the local sources think they have you by the short and curlies!
