Have questions about tilt and trim on 89 100hp merc it has the 2 small pushrods and large tilt rod in the middle.
Let me start with what happened and where I'm at now. Went to lake last weekend and Tt stopped moving but was making a loud buzzing noise. I later determined the electrical pump became full of water. No water in the hydraulic part. Priced motor and decided to try to just remove tilt and trim all together. I got the whole trim assembly off except large ram in the middle. I removed the bottom large pin with the holes for fluid to run through.
Decided to break down and buy the motor because I didn't want water to get in the large hydraulic cylinder. Put everything back together. Now after trying to bleed system all I can get is the 2 small cylinders to work. Once motor comes out to that point the motor stops moving but the pump still pumps.
My question is ,is there a bleed screw for the large ram? Or does the large pin at the bottom have to be in a certain place or position? Is the 2 Allen head screws in the large pin bleeders?
I've read and read and read articles and post about this and most say trims self bleed. Maybe in some cases but I drained all fluid out of large ram by removing large pin from bottom of it . In my opinion I'm not getting fluid in the large ram. I need to find out why.
Please any help will be appreciated.
