So I am looking for shipping rates for my big move to Maui, HI in June and I've received some pricey quotes. I am shipping 1. My Extended Cab Pickup
2. Some household belongings

I understand the process for vehicles is to get it to Long Beach Port from Minnesnowda and then from there I pay to put it on the ship to Maui (Matson or T.A.S.)

Has anyone had any success with a specific auto transport carrier?

I have an auction out on uShip but I havent had any bites yet. Correction I just got a bid for $1075 from MN to Port of Long Beach. That seems reasonable but do you think I can do better for an extended cab going 1900miles?

How about Loading your truck and all house contents into a 30-40 foot container and shipping it that way?

I used "United Road" for cross country transport. I felt more comfortable with them than using uship, which is just an eBay-like site for independent trucking companies, etc.

I am sure you have thought about it, but do you really want the truck on Maui?

BIL just shipped two pallets of doors to Hi, was anything but direct, goes to south Pacific then back to Hi. Time frame about 6 weeks from Charlotte, NC area. Would have been quicker if shipped from the plant in Brazil

LOL. You might say that. Winter was tough this year no doubt but a new job is the main reason

I was able to get the truck shipping costs down to $2,175 to the island. I am still in the process of figuring out how to get all of my stuff there. Then I need to find a place to put it!

Lots of moving parts, and moving to an island in less than 30 days with a house to sell and a bunch of toys is not easy. I may regret bringing my shiny truck to the island, but its not completely unpractical either. Gas prices are higher in Minnesota then they are in Maui so keep this into perspective.
