I recently just had my starter lock up on me and chew up the teeth on the flywheel ring. I have pulled the engine, but cannot find a serial number for the exact model, but i am 95 percent sure its a mercury 470(aka 170). I talked to one dealer who said that i might as well junk the motor as getting a flywheel or ring gear is impossible, anyone have any advice as to what my best course of action is?
