Change From SP To DP? 4.3GL

I have a 1997 VP 4.3GL PLKD #4110144649 SX-C1 1.85 #4112030094

If it's possible to change the lower end to DP what gear ratio will I need to look for?
And in the end is better to just find a boat with that already? I love my boat
and I have spent some blood, sweat, tears and $(not a lot) getting her near perfect. Any advice?

Whoa!!! That's more than I paid for my boat! I guess I'll have to save up or find a boat with a DP already in it.

Some lucky people have actually found good used lowers for less tha 2K. Just keep an eye out until the opportunity strikes. Of course with the DP drive, you need DP props and they go for around $800 by themselves new. (that is the aluminum ones)
Makes that single prop look pretty good doesn't it.

The twin props make for better acceleration,better tracking(no wandering).

I know for larger boats, it definitely is a huge benefit. I would never own a boat without one again. I get up on plane in seconds. Not sure the benefit is really that great for a 18' boat though.

The props are very expensive. Been awhile since I bough a set of stainless for mine but they were over $1200/set.

As far as better tracking, that is only at idle speeds. Backing up is also a lot easier. Again, this helps a lot more for larger boats.
