If I take a standard 350 chev motor and change it to replace my 283 marine engine what changes will I have to make if any?

Re: change to 350 marine

Hey Obriendt,
There are still a few things that the article did not cover. I am doing a 350 for 350 swap in my boat. I am using all of the electrical parts, carb/manifold, water pump and oil pan from the old motor. I had to get my freeze plugs changed to brass as well as use marine grade head gaskets. I was lucky that the old cam was in real good shape so I could re-use it also. I am finding out that it is not as easy as just yanking out the old motor and dropping a new one in its place. I am sure that I didn't cover everthing but a marine to auto motor swap is quite possible and economical as long as you take your time and do it right.
Trent gave me some advice a while back and it is folks like him that keep me coming back to this great web site. Good Luck!
