I have a 1996 Larson with twin 5.0 GFI (FORD) with SX drives. I would like to replace the controls that are factory Volvo to something that is not so sensative to sync. and control.

The Volvo controls are basically Teleflex/Morse controls. If they are not adjusted properly, no control is going to work. Another possibility is the engine. No two engines run the same.
Are you sure the throttles are adjusted to give you maximum throttle lever movement?

Re: Change Volvo Penta Controls?

Don,
My mechanic has said the controls are fine. He told me that since I was used to Mercrusier controls, that I would have to get use to them. What I don't like is that they are very touchy and you have to pull down very far for reverse to operate. When sync engines while driving all you have to do is tap them ever so slightly, one tap harder than the other makes you repeat proceess endlessly.
Is there another type of control that will work smoother like merc has on there twins?
Thanks for your help!
