changing a 4cyl to a 6 cyl will this work?

I have a 1983 20.5 ft Four Winns cuddy with a mercruiser 485 185 hp closed cooling, I am having so many problems with this motor and the parts are very expensive, I would like to change the motor to a v6 as parts are more inexpensive and available how hard is this to do and is this a good idea

all v6s are side mounts your 4cyl is a front mount. youll have to build new mounts. Next is exhaust. 4cyl has one pipe v6 has a ypipe or two pipes. gear ratio in the outdrive (if you have a 170 hp 4cyl should be the same.you could EASILY put several thousand dollars in this. Why not fix your 4 and sell it and buy another boat.
