1995 OMC Cobra -
1. Removed the vertical unit
2. Using the alignment bar I adjusted the engine mounts until the bar would
slide like it was in butter.
3. Ran the boat for about two hours.
4. Had to remove the drive for unrelated reason.
5. When I checked the alignment again the alignment needed adjustment again.

After two hours is this normal ?

Thanks

Re: Changing Alignment

More than likely the coupler was now in a different position. When you do your alignment, rotate the engine 180 and check again. Often you have to put the adjustment right in the middle.

Changing Alignment

That makes sense. I already have it backtogether now. Would it be an issue to leave it as is ? It was smooth as silk when I did the last alignment !

Re: Changing Alignment

I actually check it at 90 degree increments and usually don't notice much change between the various positions.

It is probably fine but would be interesting to get other peoples opinions.

Out of curiosity, did it look like you needed to adjust higher the second time? Worst case scenario is that the stringers are soft and it did indeed change.
