Ok so I am now changing the exaust yoke bellow on the engine/outdive. I cut the old one off because it was shot, ripped and had holes in it. I see that the pipes are not together. I assume this is not correct. So im going to load some pictures on here for you guys to see. My questiions are this. What do I need to do to get these back together and ill assume thats the same procedure to put the new one on. The second question is how would this have happened? It was this was when I got it so I have no idea what could have done it.285430_2189807979091_1063845610_32496734_3061606_n.jpg198641_2189809499129_1063845610_32496739_4537184_n.jpg285135_2189806059043_1063845610_32496725_2226803_n.jpg251586_2189809139120_1063845610_32496738_813858_n.jpg263317_2189810139145_1063845610_32496741_4151200_n.jpg

You have to remove the manifold to replace it.
They usually fail by getting burned up from lack of water in the exhaust. Which also causes an overheat. Did the engine overheat?

Yes the engine overheated because of a bad impeller. It also overheated once when we sucked up sand and seaweed into the fresh water side and it clogged up the filter. So will I need a new gasket or anything like that?

You NEVER reuse gaskets or seals.

doggfather - The reason that your exhaust manifold and down pipe don't line up is because your starboard side engine mount is sagging and needs replaced. I have the same engine and drive and already had the same problem. I also had to remove my exhaust manifold to replace the coupler and when you do be careful removing the exhaust manifold bolts as they seize and you can break them off in the cylinder head or manifold which can make life very difficult. Also check your exhaust bellow that connects to the out drive. When mine overheated it ruined both the manifold coupler and the exhaust bellow. A torn exhaust bellow can cause idle / performance problems.
