Hi, I have swapped my '92 40hp Johnson off of my '92 Bass Tracker tx 17 to a '98 70hp Johnson
I got the wire harness adaptor for the '98 to fit the main engine wire harness:

J70TLECB

There are 2 nyloc nuts that hold the controls shift cables ends onto the engine. 1 for the throttle, and 1 for the gear.

Q) I lost 1 nut during the r + r. I have tried a 8-32 stainless nyloc nut, seems to be correct size, but not the right thread ?????

Q) The fuel connector on my fuel line end does not seem to fit the attachment on the motor now. Does Johnson have various sizes of connectors for the fuel line to motor ?

Thanks

The nuts that hold the 70 hp throttle and shift controls are 10-32 nyloc nuts (if anyone ever asks)

My fuel problem was that the pointy part that holds the lconnector ock was slightly bent. (from shippinping on a skid approx 60 miles) As a result the fuel inlet and the lock were not //. The connector from the boat would not push on fully as it would bind up prior to being fully attached.
