Guys,

I am going to be changing my gearlube.

Hear that I need to replace the drain, fill and vent plug gaskets. Can anyone point me to the right ones?

Do I need to put locktite 271 on all of them or just the drain plug?

Thanks

i have a seal leak on my lower unit , every week i take my boat out i always drain the bad oil out and put new oil in. My drain and fill plugs have plastic washers so there is no need to add locktite.I would'nt crank down on the screws but make them snug. Re-check later should be fine.besides locktite won't work with oil residue.

Those washer/gaskets are Mercury part number 12-191833

No Loctite.

Roscoe,

I got some of these. charged me 1.00 a piece. Also, these look thinner(by that I mean the ring part is thinner) than the ones I have on my motor.

Are these OK and is there a cheaper place to get them? seemed expensive to me.

thanks

Check local dealers, some guys sell them real cheap.
Also check the local full service hardware store, you might get lucky and find the right size.
