changing impeller while floating?

Its a simple question, dont wanna try before asking. Im worried water will start puring in!

the engine is a volvo penta 1980 aq290a raw water cooled.

Of course water will come in.

Just take the inlet hose off the pump and stuff a rag in it. I assume you have a bilge pump, if not, why not?

Yup but the feeling of water coming in its something that will make anyone nervous, and had no idea if it was possible and safe

Did mine and just used some water hose pliers that hold the hose flat.
