When I'm pumping the lube and I begin to see it flow out of the top vent hole, do I cap it right away, or do I let it flow until no more comes out?

I cap mine right away and add a little more. I wouldn't wait until no more comes out.

Is it possible to overfill it?

No. It will just keep flowing out the upper vent hole.

Since you have an Alpha I and don't have a reservoir, yes you can overfill it. Fill it till it comes out the vent hole. Put the plug in and then put the fill plug in. Trying to fill more is a waste of time as the fluid in the drive needs room to expand when it heats up. Without that room, it will blow past the input shaft seal and fill your bellows with gear lube, and possibly damage the seal. Then you loose all the gear lube and drive.

Don, should I put the vent plug in as soon as the fluid starts coming out, or should I wait until it stops draining out of the hole and then put it in?

as long as u r pumping the fluid in it will perpetually flow. so I am guessing that the tolerance will allow a few ounces here or there. I would pump till i see fluid then cap the vent, and as quickly as possible cap the lower. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It is really as easy as it sounds. Take out both plugs. Fill from the bottom. When it starts coming out the vent fitting, put the vent plug in. Then take your finger off the fill hole and quickly put the fill screw in. Make sure both are tightened
