I have never replaced a lower shift cable before. Can anyone tell me the degree of difficulty I should expect? Mercruiser 120 year 1979

I did "customize" a deep socket and 3" extension in order to ease the removal and instillation of the nut holding the outer part of the cable into the hull. As for the clamp on the cable end of the bellows there is a wire tie type available from Merc........................Don once posted the part number......................I'd try a search. ................or hope Don stops by with the info...............good luck.

if yours hasn't been convertet yet, and the cable screws into the back of the bellhousing instead of the front.... then its going to be difficult.
