Changing oil pan gasket on AQ131A in place?

My AQ131A has no front motor mounts and so it makes me wonder if it is at all possible to drop the oil pan enough to replace the gasket without removing the motor.

Never read anything about it here. Anybody have a thought? Thanks.

Depends on the boat's bilge design, I would think. Do you think its possible?? Post a picture and we'll throw some guesses at you.

Even if there is a lot of room, my guess is its gonna suck, to be blunt.

You do realize the oil pickup tube for the oil pump is very close to the bottom of the pan don't you?

Ahhh, too bad. Sounds like it's a very long shot at best. Since I'm completely re-working the boat (Bayliner Capri 2250) I have planned to remove the wooden structures on both the port and starboard sides of the engine which would allow pretty good access.

But, in the end it sounds like there's no shortcut. Will have to pull the engine. Thanks for the input.

Pulling that engine is actually very easy. It that is all you have to do you just pull it up a little. Maybe with a beam on the gunnel.

Hey that is a great idea. That would simplify things immensely.

Probably would need to make sure that I spread the load over as much gunnel as possible. Bayliners are not particularly strongly built. (In my opinion)

Thanks for a great idea.
