Hello all , I have an inline 6 Merc that I just swapped midsections out so that I could have power trim. It is a 1984 115 hp. Mercury inline 6 . The problem is that one of the bolt holes do not line up or is missing on the mid. that has the PT so I cant use it. I did not notice this until I had already changed them out . I made the mistake of thinking that they would be the same since the serial numbers are within the same year. Now I need to swap out the PT assembly and transom bracket back to the Mid. to achieve my goal. What would be the simplest way to change out the Brackets and PT ? can I just take the yoke loose and slide the entire bracket assembly out to change it ? Thanks-----
Here is a quick video--

I am going to just drill a hole in the PT mid to line up with the threaded hole in the jet like the original mid is so I guess the problem is solved without changing out the transom bracket assemblies

I am going to just drill a hole in the PT mid to line up with the threaded hole in the jet like the original mid is but I still have reservations as there are other differences as well that I would have to modify to convert it. I dunno.

You could go on a parts list site like crowleymarine and see if the midsections for the jet and prop versions are the same.

In your first post you said you swapped the midsection to get one with PTT. You really meant you swapped the midsection and transom bracket, right? It is too bad, because when you had the powerhead and gearcase off, the midsection is simply removed by removing two bolts (or one) that hold the exhaust extension halves together and popping out the motor mounts. The swivel shaft then pulls out of the yoke and out of the midsection.

Well , I tried to get as much info as I could before re assembly . It's all good now anyway. I got some advice on the inline 6 forum at FB and just drilled out the threaded hole in the bottom of the lower and bolted everything together. Problem solved. Thanks for your reply.
