I have a '95 Wellcraft Eclipse 236c. It has a "bench" seat at the helm that is mounted on top of a storage locker that is attached to the deck.The locker material is approx. 3/4" thick. I am looking to remove the current seat and attach single seat with an adjustable pedestal mount. My guess is that I will have to add a backer plate under the pedestal and probably have to also bolster the box with a 1/2" plywood support box from deck to to underside of seat. The question I have is will there still be too much stress on the platform to support the seat or should I just pass on the change?
