Has anyone heard of the ritual you should do when changing the name of a boat? Is it true people have had bad luck because this ritual was not done? I'm looking for people's experiences in this subject.

I think you first need to burn it at sea.

Just kidding. I think the biggest fundamental part of the ritual is the purchasing of a reasonable amount of suitable paint.

I think it's bad luck to change a boat's name, period. The day I renamed mine the engine seized, distributor blew up, and the lower unit fell apart. All completely unrelated catastrophic failures...

I'm pretty sure my boat is possesed by demons now.

Well at that point I would not mess with it!
Some things in life are just not to be mucked with!
Take Oreal Cookies.. dark on the outside and white in the middle.
Dont mess with it or the cookie G*ds will get you! :)

Thats the way i take it too....better off to leave it alone.
The boat runs good and has never left me stranded.
Why mess with a good thing?8)
