changing sides with shifter

I have a 1987 Merc classic 50 I took off my Tracher and want to put it on my pontoon boat. My pontoon boat has a center console so I need the shifter handle mechanisum to funtion the exact opposite than it was when on the right hand side of the tracker. I do not see any way to do that. Is it possible?

Depends on the type control you have, can you post a picture of it?

If you take the back off the box you will see that the cables can be reversed so the box can be moved to the other side you may need a manual if you can't figure it out.
