Changing the ignition on an 1989 4.3 liter omc Cobra from points to Delco EST Ignition

I bought a 1989 Starcraft Islander 221. It is the type of boat I always wanted. Easily towable and big enough to feel safe on Lake Ontario. When I bought the boat, it was in "fair" condition. At least it does not leak. Just so I don't have to worry about getting stuck on the water, I bought a Michigan Motorz rebuilt long block and decided to change to EST ignition. I did hear that there might be something special I have to do to make this system work because of stumbling when shifting. Does anybody know what that might be?

You need to contact CDI electronics & buy an ESA module that will work with the Delco EST ignition system.
