to use a non vro pump, the new pump mount to the bosses on the block, and you block off the pulse line under the carb.

here is one without the VRO, see the fuel pump mounted to the block.

this is from an earlier post ... but my question is this .. there is a pan head phillips head screw right in the center of the bosses for the pump. the pump came with a gasket which as far as i can tell isn't anything but a cushion so to speak. can i mount the pump to the bosses right on top of that screw???

Re: changing vro to fuel pump

You must remove the screw it is there to block off the hole when using the VRO.Remove the screw and install the pump with the gasket, the screw covers a hole in the engine block and the new pump needs the crankcase pressure from the hole for the pump to work.
