Check out:Yamaha Maintenance Tips Andy, for some good step by step instructions with photos for water pumps and several other maintenance procedures....the motor shown in the photos will be a bit different from yours, but the basics are all there.....Take your time and use a small ball peen hammer to "rock" that woodruff key out of it's way on the drive shaft...if required. Reassemble carefully and use waterproof grease on O-rings, bolt threads, new impeller blades to help on first start-up. That Quicksilver 2-4-C Waterproof Marine Grease is good stuff for assembly and fastener threads, etc., especially if you run in saltwater a good bit......but most marine grease should be O.K.

Re: changing water impeller

ok, i changed it out last night, wasnt to bad. But hooking up the linkage was a diff story. apparently, the brass double side screw kinda stripped out.......i have to go get another one......in my mind, i kinda know where the linkage is supposed to be.....how important is it to be exact?????? For being 3-4 years old, the impeller I took out looked pretty new.........i was amazed, been sitting in hot and cold elements uncovered............
