Looking to buy a new boat this year. Any body got any advice on these Probably gonna have to settle for the 4.3L 190HP as the V8 isn't in my budget! Did get a quote of $24k Out the door on a 05 Leftover Chaparral 190SSi with some options Volvo power, and a matching trailer w/ brakes. Does anybody know what to expect to pay for any of these others here? Any reason to avoid any of these Thanks

Todd, I have the 225 Crownline and love it. The 19 SS is similar in hull design and they are a good compromise between speed and handling. The Chaps are well made boats too and almost bought one when I found the Crownline.

Spend the extra money if at all possible to get the largest engine you can. I never heard anyone say they wish they would have gotten the smaller motor, but hear all the time they wish they would have gotten the larger motor. Also, boats with larger motors are always easier to sell in the used boat market.

When buying new, it depends on the market, but there is a lot of competition in the size that you are looking at; you should be able to get 15 to 20 % off list for a current year and more for a one year old with a little bit of effort.

Price difference between an '05 and '07 should be a bunch. As even though it may be "new", the '05 already has 2 years depreciation on it's value. This makes comparing an '05 price to an '07 tricky. The '05 may not be as good a deal as it initially appears.

The fit and finish on the chap. and the crown will be better than the stingray. The resale will be better also. I agree with bsman, get the biggest powerplant as you can, you won't regret it. Have you taken a look at four winns boats. they fall in the same range as the boats you are looking at.

Thanks for the help all. BSMAN you were right on the money Just recieved a quote today from a dealer on an 07 Crownline 200LS. Over 20% off list with everything included, even a Prestige trailer. Going to look at a Crownline one last time Saturday before placing the order. I think with the price I got on the 200LS I can upgrade a little and get the 220HP MPI instead of the standard carb. I called the Chap dealer for a price on a new 07, he didn't want to hear that LOL. I think I like the Crownie a little better though, with the walk through transom and bow ladder. Thanks all

Todd
