I have a 2012 Chaparral SSI 196 with the Volvo Penta 4.3 190 hp and SX drive that came with an aluminum 14.25x19 prop. I was interested in switching to Stainless Steel but am not having much luck on which one I should buy. I do about 50% of my time cruising, and the other 50% pulling the fam on the tube so I guess I am looking for best of both worlds. The prop wizards online just end up proposing several. I have called a few Chap dealers and they were not much help. Anyone have any suggestions and/or input?

What RPM do you get at WOT?

What are the other answers to the questions in the sticky at the top of the forum?

As Scott says. It’s a guessing game until some figures of how you are now are known

Sorry, missed the sticky!

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. - none aside from tired of the flexing from the alum and having to have it rebalanced every couple of seasons. I swear i can feel the flex in my feet (vibration) at WOT. Current setup meets specs, as its what came on the boat from dealer.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum. Volvo Penta 14.25X19 ALUM
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required). 14.25X19
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful). My WOT is 4600 RPM, at around 48 MPH.
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP Volvo Penta 4.3 190 hp and SX drive
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight Chaparral SSI 196, 2012 19'6"

Thanks, David

If you’re happy with the acceleration now. I’d stick to a 19” and stainless. Merc prop like enertia, laser 2 or tempest plus
