Good evening guys,

Just bought my first ever boat and pretty excited. I live on an urban lake in AZ and we can have electric boats up to 20' in length. I got a 17' Ercoa Pontoon that needs some upholstery work.

Anyways to my question. The boat has a MotorGuide Max-Pro III onboard charger. I had seen that there was a possible recall on these? The sticker on the back of the unit says:

3 Bank Standard
MGA 085,, BX1
Serial #09300

If it is not recalled, does anyone know how to get a copy of the owner's manual (paper or pdf)?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Charger Recall???

Hi, Seems , according to a couple of lookups, there was a recall but I could not find any serial number reference range for the recall. Just the years 98-2004:
OND DU LAC, Wis. - August 5, 2004 - MotorGuide is conducting a Federal Boat Safety Act Recall of its Max Pro II and Max Pro III battery chargers sold since 1998 due to potential overheating problems, ... or calling 1-920-929-5040" I see there are overheating issues entered as late as 2011 (see links). Could not find manuals for this model including MG site.

Re: Charger Recall???

Thanks for the help guys. It was pretty easy. Called the number listed on the recall notice, they sent me to a local Mercury dealer yesterday. The dealer sent the charger back and said the new one should be here in about a week free of charge.
