Can I just clip on a charger to the battery posts without removing wiring terminals without doing harm to engine components. Don't want to fry anything. Just applying a 10a charge for maintenence.

Yes but be very careful to observe the proper polarity or else you will be buying a new rectifier.

for that reason it is recommended to disconnect the negative wire. any time you cross the polarity, you blow the rectifier, and possibly more.

Thanks guys I thought it was doable. I have a plug in type harness for the charger so once hooked up it should prevent any accidental mishap.
Also, thanks TDaddy for a previous link for genuinedealz.com those guys are great. Got 20' of 6/2 for my deep cells, only 56 bucks!!! West Marine would have cost over $200.
