hi gang no one has figured out how to get the mag voltage and make it charge got lot of feed back saying no best bet buy spare battery well i bought solar charged was told if motor was runnig and starting a battery would last a week so i went that route motor is in shop and getting worked on and getting converted to electric fuel pump and new tip gas tank old mane doing work is gooood from word of mouth thanks for all help in past just bought backup from ebay motor that is run 2 years ago 227.00

I researched this last year, looked at the specs for many PV panels, and concluded that it would take a very large and very expensive solar panel to keep the starter battery for my 1960 Evinrude charged between multiple starts on the same day. Decided that a second battery made much more sense.<br /><br />Don't forget that the generators offered on 1950's-1960's engines produced 10 amps, which is about 50 times what most "battery charging" solar panels produce in full sunlight.
