Charging problems

I have a 78 OMC 225 in a glastron boat. Currently the charging system is not working. I have had the alternator tested, and it is working fine. I have replaced the regulator, but it is still not charging. I think that at some point someone tried to rewire the boat and did it wrong.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this setup? It has select trim and also a shift module. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Charging problems

trouble between the alternator and the regulator may be tested as follows,

first, connect one end of a jumper wire to the batt. terminal and the other end to the *F* terminal, if the charging system works with the jumper wire in place, but not without it then the regulator ia bad and must be replaced, if the alt doesnt work with the jumper in place, then the alt. needs replacment.

anytime you replace the alt. you must replace the reg.

Re: Charging problems

Thanks for the input. I did that test and the alternator is putting out about 14.3 volts. I also replaced the regulator with a new one. I think that the last guy hacked the wiring as I have a couple of wires that should be connected to something, but are just cut. This is why I am hoping to find a wiring diagram, or someone who knows how the charging system should be wired.
