Charging system for 20hp

Hi everybody!! I am looking at purchasing a mid 80's Mercury 20hp. Not sure yet of the actual year, I am waiting to find out. The motor belongs to a neighbour of a friend. Does anyone know if these outboards were capable of running a charging system to charge a battery? If it doesn't have one now, what would I need to do to get it?

Hmmm, still trying to figure this out. Does anybody own a 20hp Mercury Outboard, approximately 1983, with a charging system to charge batteries? My motor Serial #7130551. Any help is greatly appreciated.
