Charging System

I just put a new rectifier in today. While running in a tub I checked the battery. !2.7 volts. After raising the RPMs the voltage went up to 13.6 volts. I only went to about 1800 so not to harm the motor. Is this how the charging system works on this motor, 1988 150 Blk Max? I will check in the water this weekend to see the volts while crusing the back bays.
Thanks, Dead Eye
P.S. Other posts stated the volts should be around 14.5 while running ???

Re: Charging System

Should be fine. It's charging and it very likely will read higher at wide open throttle.

Re: Charging System

The rectifier only converts the voltage from AC to DC... The regulator will do the regulating at higher rpms.
