chatter when coming off plane

I recently got a 1996 90 HP Evinrude E90eledr and it has a chattter when I come off plane. The small mechanic shop I got it from explained it as the prob is free wheeling coming off plane. Didn't seem to concerned about it.Said try to come off slower as to not cause excessive wear to the parts. I also hear a clicking noise when I turn the prob by hand, it's a little louder in reverse. It this really what he is saying or a serious problem?

The man is correct !----The forward motion of the boat wants to turn the prop.----Same as you turning the prop in forward gear.----Slow down more gradually is the correct advice.

After hearing it by just spinning the prop in the driveway I felt more unsure. I had not heard this from other outboards I've had. They were smaller , 35 and 50 HP.. Wanted to be sure of the sounds. Thanks

Yes i get that click from spinning mine by hand too, all my OMCs have done that
